It’s been a while since I talked about my skincare routine, and it has changed a lot in this time. It used to be crazy, containing about a thousand products (ok, not thaaat many, but it almost felt like it!), which became quite a nuisance over time.
It was fun to be super obsessed with skincare for some time because that led me to try out many products and figure out what works for me. My current routine is the result of that previously collected knowledge.
My skin used to be combo (oily T-zone, normal/dry everywhere else), but it changed during my pregnancy and would now probably qualify as normal. I get occasional breakouts, usually around that-time-of-the-month; I have enlarged pores on my T-zone and some fine lines and wrinkles since I’m in my early 30s; also, my skin can be quite dull-looking.
I tackle breakouts and enlarged pores with BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid), specifically Salicylic acid. It unclogs pores and reduces oil production, so it’s great for those who are prone to blemishes and have oilier skin. It also smooths wrinkles and brightens and evens out skin tone.
I also use an AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) serum. It exfoliates dead skin cells and reveals smoother and brighter skin; it targets hyperpigmentation and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
For some extra brightness, I like to use Vitamin C; I also make sure that my skin is properly cleansed and hydrated. And last but not least – I use SPF during the day.

Afrodita Clean Phase Re-Balance Cleansing Foam and Clean Phase Micellar Foam – Afrodita is a local brand that I’m quite fond of. Their cleansing foams are staples in my routine and probably my most repurchased products. Both are very gentle and don’t dry out the skin. The Micellar Foam is especially great for removing impurities and make-up, so I like to use it in the evenings, while the Re-Balance Cleansing Foam is more refreshing, and it’s great to help me wake up in the mornings.
Clinique 7 Day Scrub Cream Rinse-Off Formula – I know physical scrubs have a terrible reputation, but I noticed that my skincare game isn’t the same without one. I only use it once a week or less, and it makes my skin so smooth. It also seems to help the acids be more efficient.
The Ordinary Marine Hyaluronics – I’ve been using this product for years (basically since it was released), and I love it! It’s very lightweight, it feels like water and extremely hydrating. I like to use it as a toner right after cleansing. I put a few drops in the palm of my hand and spread it across my face with fingers. It also feels pleasant to tap it in, and a bit of massage is always good for the skin.
Niod ELAN 2 (Ethylated L-Ascorbic Acid 30% Network) – It contains a 30% concentration of highly-stable Ethylated L-Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) and a few antioxidants. I like it because it really doesn’t oxidize, which is very rare for a Vitamin C serum since most of them do – their color and smell changes, and they become ineffective. This serum is great for reviving skin tone and supporting collagen production, which is tied to skin elasticity and firmness.
Drunk Elephant C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream – I never believed in eye creams until I tried out this one. It actually makes my undereye area look more rested and reduces the look of fine lines around my eyes.
Paula’s Choice Defense Essential Glow Moisturizer SPF 30 – I’m not sure what’s the secret of this moisturizer, but it makes me look so glowy, and I love it for that! It also contains an SPF 30, so I don’t need an extra product for that. It sits really well under make-up, and as I said, it gives me a beautiful glow, almost like I’m wearing an illuminating primer.
Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm – This product is a favorite for so many, and for a good reason. It has an oily texture, which is excellent for removing make-up, even the most stubborn waterproof one.
Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant – The exfoliant is another cult favorite, which really helps to unclog my pores and make them look smaller. It also makes my skin less bumpy and more even.
Farmacy Honeymoon Glow AHA Resurfacing Night Serum – This serum feels so pleasant on the skin and smells subtly like honey. It makes my skin smooth, soft, and bright.
Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair – Well, this is just a glorified hyaluronic acid serum. It’s good and hydrating and very pleasant on the skin, but I was expecting it to do something more, considering the price point and the hype. It seemed so fancy that I wanted to try it out, but I won’t repurchase it. I’ll go back to Niod MMHC2 (Multi-Molecular Hyaluronic Complex), which works just as well, if not better.
Paula’s Choice Omega+ Complex Moisturizer – This moisturizer feels so pleasant on the skin. It has a fluffy mousse-like texture, which feels light but still very hydrating. I also appreciate that it’s not scented (none of PC products are).
The Ordinary “B” Oil – I always end my evening routine with a few drops of oil. It’s a secret to waking up with plump, radiant skin. The Ordinary makes some great oils, and I rotate among them – I’m currently using “B” Oil, but I also like 100% Cold-Pressed Virgin Marula Oil and 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil.
Ok, so my skincare routine is still not entirely minimal, but I find it quite manageable. Do I use any of the products that you love too? Are there any products that you think are great and would like to suggest to me? Let me know! 🙂
