Anastasia Beverly Hills just released a new palette called Soft Glam. I was quite disappointed when it was first announced because it looked like another boring neutral palette and it seemed very similar to the Modern Renaissance palette – 3 shades are actually copied from the MR palette!
But the more I looked at it the more it started to grow on me and I noticed that the colors work really well together.
I also like that the Soft Glam palette contains a darker shimmery shade called Sultry which is a beautiful all-over-the-lid shade and it also has a great matte black shade. I think good black eyeshadow is quite hard to find and it’s so essential for dark smokey looks.
All shades are pigmented, they blend beautifully and feel creamy. There is also very little fall-out – the shimmery shades have some but it’s not that bad.
I’m sure you’re wondering about the kick-up drama when the Subculture palette was released! Well this one is much more similar to the Modern Renaissance palette which means it’s still a bit on the powdery side like all of the ABH palettes are but it’s completely manageable.
I think it’s a wonderful palette! It’s perfect for beginners in search for their first basic eyeshadows or for those who didn’t get the Modern Renaissance because the reddish-pinks were too intimidating, it would also be stunning for soft wedding looks so I would recommend it to makeup artists that do a lot of those and it’s also great for collectors and makeup enthusiasts like me – I just wanted to have another Anastasia Beverly Hills palette in my collection since I love their quality and I really don’t mind having more neutral shadows since I use them the most.
