Catrice just released two new setting sprays – one is called Anti-Shine Fixing Spray and it’s supposed to give your skin a matte finish and the second one is an illuminating spray and it’s called Dewy Glow Fixing Spray.
They both claim to prepare the skin, improve make-up wear and refresh complexion. I’ve been using them for a while now and I have to say that I’m really impressed, they are not just good sprays but are also affordable – each costs about 5 EUR.
The sprays have a nice mist and don’t leave any droplets which would ruin your make-up. They nicely take the powdery finish away and not make a splotchy mess even when going overboard with spraying and we all know it often happens that we end up completely drenched. 😀 The illuminating one needs to be shaken before use because it contains tiny particles of shimmer but it doesn’t leave any residue on the face and it doesn’t look glittery.
The downside is that they are quite scented but it’s not so bad that I wouldn’t be able to use them and I’m quite easily bothered by scents.
Let’s talk about the claims of being matte or illuminating. The Anti-Shine Fixing Spray really mattifies the skin and at the same time doesn’t make it dry which is great. But you might be disappointed by the Dewy Glow Fixing Spray because it isn’t really dewy and it won’t make you glow, it will actually give you more of a natural finish. I like it a lot because I prefer looking more natural and not too glowy and it’s especially good because it doesn’t make my T-zone oily like some dewy sprays do (I have combo skin).
I used the same foundation and the same setting powder for these two photos. The difference might not be so noticeable here but the Anti-Shine Fixing Spray really looks more matte in person and the Dewy Glow Fixing Spray has more glow.
Overall, I think these Catrice sprays are two really great affordable options.
